Excellent news!
Can't wait to put it under test and see how it fares!
great,I will quickly learn it.thx,Mark Spencer.I hope Motion 5 have more secrets!haha.
Just zipped through your new Motion 5 Fast Forward Tutorial (The Rig Tutorial is for tomorrow)...well done. I think the new version is going to be great. The publishing feature alone is worth the freight. Your modules were crystal clear. Cant wait for a Deep Dive version.
This pro thinks the new FCPX and Motion 5 will be OK for what my little micro-production company does.
From what I can see visually, Motion 5 is structured similar to Motion 4, the difference is the features. My question is whether or not it is backward compatible with Motion 4 projects. I have already read that FCP X is NOT backward compatible. The price is awesome, but I wonder if Apple is going to have a price break for us FCP Studio 3 users to upgrade to it much like Adobe does with their Creative Suites (which, IMHO are WAY overpriced!).
Well done! Just bought all three new Ripple Training courses. I think Motion will become much more popular after this hardcore collaboration with Final Cut Pro X.
As opposed to FCP X, Motion 5 IS backwards compatible with earlier versions.
I have to check my graphics card on my MacPro, I hope my ATI Radeon HD 5770 with 1GB GDDR5 is sufficient. What do you think Mark?
It should be but check the KB article to make sure.
I real think that you are a real value to so many, thank you for all your help.
a quick question ; i am not able to find the round tripping feature. if we lost it, is there an available work around.?
No roundtripping right now in FCPX/M5 - workaround is to select the clip you want by navigating in Motion's File Browser to the Final Cut Events folder, in the Event where it is stored - then rendering the result, or Publishing the Motion project as a generator so you can add it to your FCP X timeline.
If I create a project in Motion 5, will a client with Motion 4 be able to open and work with it?
Well, no, of course not. They'll need to spring the $50 for Motion 5.
Too bad. It's not a matter of springing the $50. My major client likes to keep all of its suites consistent. They're not upgrading to FCP X because of the bad reviews, so it's not likely they'll upgrade their Motion 4 just to accommodate me.
I have a 2006 1,1 fully loaded Mac Pro with dual 30" apple HD Displays. Could not download FCPX due to Nvidia 4500 graphics card won't support it. Got the ATI HD 5770 from Apple Store as well as a mini display to dual link DVI cable (for second 30" display). Both screens work fine at full resolution. Only hitch was thr right display was the main desktop not the left. Switched cables but same thing. WTF!!! Had to move displays All is well. Downloaded FCPX & Motion without any problems. Both programs work great. Love FCP 7 but times change. Viewed Lynda FCPX tutorial and am impressed with what FCPX can do.
Glad you got it up and running, Rich. You might also want to check out my two Motion 5 tutorials on Rippletraining.com - all the preview movies are free.
