Cinema 4D to Motion Workflow

With the release of version 11.5, Cinema 4D now supports the exporting of lights, cameras, and object location data to Motion - allowing you to easily integrate true 3D objects and scenes into your motion graphics compositions. This short video explains the basic workflow.

This 4D cinema will soon be real hit in cinema halls and also in homes of those who are home cinema fans.

Just wanted to say that I have just gone through your cinema 4D to Motion tutorial and I feel so excited.

Thankyou so much for your tutorials, very empowering, clear and simple to follow. If you do have more relating to Cinema 4d I would love to see them!

I'm especially interested in Multiple screen (comic book style) I know I can do this using Motion by itself, but I prefer the 3D style you can achieve in Cinema4D...I was curious to see how difficult it might be using the buffer tabs with multi vids on top of each other.

Good bye Sunlight! I'm going in!

Thanks Mark

Richard

Hey Mark,

I have tried exporting a Cinema 4D Animation to Apple Motion.
It seems Apple Motion or Cinema is having a Problem with Camera animation.
The Camera animation is not in sync with the 2D plate render from Cinema 4D!

Is there any solution for this?? Well except of using After Effects.

Couldn't tell without know more about it, Shaggy - are you exporting an image sequence from C4D?

One thing - when importing your C4D renders (image sequence) into Motion, make sure your playhead is at the beginning of the comp.

Well I Rendered a image sequence (RGB and a Mask from the Object Buffer.
Only thing that is animated is the camera... the camera rotates around 8 screens that are in a circle.

The render sequence is fine, but when I drop on of the Object Buffer objects (drop zone with the question mark) with a clip in a 3D Layer the "drop zone" is no in sync with the render sequence. It looks like the "drop zone" is moving from side to side.

So I did another test where the Camera is not animated but the screens are, in the render and Motion file from Cinema 4D had no issues... so I am guessing one of the apps can't handle the camera animation right??
Apple Motion 4 and Cinema 4D R11 are in works...

Mark, are you planning any more podcasts like this one ? Love cinema 4d motion integration :)
also.. anyway we can get the source files you used in the podcast for practice ?

Shaggy, Motion should handle the camera animation just fine, don't know what the issue is.

Mark, I'm having the same problem as Shaggy. It's as if things just dont line up. For me, I have a simple scene where a camera moves around a billboard screen. The screen is also lit by a few lights which I've imported into motion as well. The only thing is, the lights are static in Cinema, but when I get them into motion, they have keyframes on them. And they're not static keyframes. Their x position is actually moving. Same with my null object (screen).

In a situation like this, it's hard to isolate the problem. I've looked at all my camera settings, and my lights, and my axes and stuff. I'm pretty sure the camera's the problem, but I could be wrong. I'm using R12, and Motion 4. Wish I could send you the Cinema file so you could see for yourself....
